Economist and Policy Analysist

Majid is an accomplished and seasoned Economist and Policy Analyst with over 8 years of work experience in Malawi and around the world. He has a strong passion for macroeconomics, international economics, microeconomics, Islamic banking and finance, and socio-economic development research, business strategy and negotiation, client management, strategic leadership, pubic debt analysis, budgeting, project and resource management, monitoring and evaluation. His professional experience traces back to academic, banking, private, and government sectors, with a strong record in economic policy analysis, policy implementation, project coordination, conducting research, and academic instruction. His primary research interest focuses on macroeconomics, monetary and fiscal Policy, international economics, economic policies, development economics, socio-economic development, time series and applied econometrics.He is recognized for publishing working paper series with the African Development Bank, and peer journal reviewing. Majid contributed to Ethiopia’s country policy reforms (notably market-based interest rate policy and adoption of market exchange rate), macroeconomic policy analysis, and climate change finance policies. He successfully coordinated the World Food Programme’s Projects, and supervised, monitored and evaluated social protection programmes, contributed to the development of policies and sectoral budgeting and analysis to Malawi Government. He has also contributed to numerous projects in Tanzania and Pakistan. He holds MA in Economics from Cukurova University, Türkiye, and a BA in Economics from Zanzibar University, Tanzania.
